This site sets no cookies at all until you choose. Analytics cookies are loaded only if you press Accept on the banner. If you decline, or ignore the banner, Google Analytics is never loaded and no cookies are set. You can change your mind at any time using the button at the bottom of this page.
What a cookie is
A small file a website asks your browser to store, so it can recognise the same browser later. Similar technologies such as localStorage work the same way for this purpose, and we treat them the same.
Cookies we use
Strictly necessary
One entry in your browser’s local storage, baidlabs_consent, records the choice you made on the cookie banner so we do not ask again on every page. It contains only your answer and the date. It is required for the banner to work and is not used for tracking, so it is set regardless of your choice.
Analytics — only with your consent
If you accept, Google Analytics 4 sets cookies named _ga and _ga_<id>. They distinguish one browser from another so we can count visitors and see which pages get used. They expire after up to two years, and you can delete them at any time in your browser settings.
If you decline, the Google Analytics script is never loaded, so these cookies are never created.
What we do not use
No advertising cookies, no retargeting or conversion pixels, no social media trackers, no session recording or heatmaps, and no cross-site tracking of any kind.
Third parties that see your request
Some services are contacted by your browser when a page loads, even where no cookie is set. Google Fonts serves the typefaces, which means Google receives your IP address. GitHub Pages hosts the site and serves the page itself. The free checker sends the web address you type to a relay service so it can be read; nothing about you is included.
